Mt. Charleston Wilderness now has a total of 56,819 acres. Mt. Charleston is also known as a "Sky Island" because of its high elevation. Elevations range from about 4,440 feet on the lowest slopes in the southwest part of the wilderness area, to nearly 12,000 feet at the summit of Mt. Charleston Peak, the highest elevation in the Spring Mountains. Filled with fun and adventure, Mt. Charleston is 316,000 acres. You can easily enjoy the fun at Mt. Desert Bighorns are located in mountain ranges throughout the southwest. Besides the southern region of Nevada, populations exist in Arizona, southeast California, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Texas and Mexico.
