Mt. Charleston Wilderness now has a total of 56,819 acres. Mt. Charleston is also known as a "Sky Island" because of its high elevation. Elevations range from about 4,440 feet on the lowest slopes in the southwest part of the wilderness area, to nearly 12,000 feet at the summit of Mt. Charleston Peak, the highest elevation in the Spring Mountains. Filled with fun and adventure, Mt. Charleston is 316,000 acres. You can easily enjoy the fun at Mt. Herd of Mule Deer
"This stocky deer with sturdy legs is 4 to 6-1/2 feet in length and 3 to 3-1/2 feet high at the shoulder. During the summer, the coat on its upper body is yellow- or reddish-brown, while in winter more gray. The throat patch, rump patch, inside ears and inside legs are white with lower portions running cream to tan.
